Luxembourg City, Luxembourg<\/strong>,15 August 2020 – A media diplomacy and social innovation platform based in Luxembourg is opening its virtual doors this month, pioneering a site that drives global awareness and early warning efforts concerning a wide range of global issues.<\/p>\n

The groundbreaking Luxembourg\u2019s Diplomacy and Communications Institute (LUDCI.eu)<\/a> will fill a critical gap in media diplomacy across Europe and beyond. The goal, said founder Vassilia Orfanou<\/a>, is to equally emphasise and publicise initiatives fighting modern-day slavery and support the undertakings of IGOs, NGOs, non-profits, SMEs, startups, and law enforcement agencies in this field.<\/p>\n

LUDCI.eu innovates in the field, aspiring to broadcast these efforts, acting as their media diplomatic attach\u00e9. By using the combined forces of media edutainment and emerging technologies it will offer a versatile and intensive media, content, and communication practice.<\/p>\n

Initially, LUDCI.eu sponsors three main publications. Headline Diplomat<\/strong> provides the eMagazine and eJournal series that highlight, study, and reinforce the media’s effect on diplomacy and various issues of concern, including international crises.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, LUDCI.eu\u2019s community space, the Citizen Diplomat<\/strong> features opinions, beliefs, and writings of everyday people on today\u2019s societal and diplomatic issues.<\/p>\n

Later on, LUDCI.eu will provide a series of online courses that will specifically explore the impact of technology, media communications, and diplomacy and how these can drive and reinforce the new generation of digital and media diplomacy.<\/p>\n

To coincide with LUDCI.eu\u2019s launch, the Media Diplomatic Institute has launched its first call for proposals in relation to COVID-19, specifically addressing how the pandemic has affected families, employees, companies, academic institutions and all professions from all walks of life at large. LUDCI.eu founder Vassilia Orfanou conceived of the Institute after her own personal and professional path in the global communications and research sectors; clearly comprehending the profound impact that early action can have on mitigating international crises.<\/p>\n

All media services supported by LUDCI.eu will be developed and enhanced based upon the latest IoT, AI, and ML principles to enhance the awareness, accelerate investments, and drive diplomatic efforts to support early warning and preemptive mechanisms, leading to the timelier de-escalation of international crises.<\/p>\n

Orfanou explores the critical role media plays in peacekeeping operations in her most recent book The Media’s Early Warning Effect: The Timelier Deployment of Peacekeeping Operations<\/a>. With two additional books on the works, she is dedicated to open further research and investment on the field specifically studying the positive impact of media and support the training of journalists and correspondents in this direction.<\/p>\n

Similarly to its Founder, LUDCI.eu is an organisation vested in social and diplomatic issues, with a strong sense of social corporate responsibility, triggering further awareness to fight against the global growth of child trafficking and the need for collective efforts to minimise and eventually eradicate it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe child trafficking crisis is one global crisis where early intervention and effective, robust media coverage can play a\u00a0critical role in putting a stop to it,\u201d said Orfanou. \u201cAnd while it is only one of many global crises, child trafficking is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, given its heinous nature, profitability, and transnational proliferation. My hope is that through the ideals, principles and systems taught and practiced via LUDCI.eu, media can be harnessed for good, putting an end to this appalling epidemic, while paving the way to other pressing, global issues affecting us today.\u201d<\/p>\n
