The perilous lenses of COVID-19: The sociopolitical impact

The virus arrived stealthily, without warning. It trapped humanity in one of its moments of greatest globalisation, of great population displacements in a world with fewer borders to cross. A microscopic, opportunistic organism that does not discriminate has humanity on its knees and has forced us to change our habits. The coronavirus is the biggest challenge since World War II, and could lead to the worst recession since 1929, according to the IMF.
A question today among millions of people in many corners of the planet is whether there will be a "New World Order " after the ravages of the pandemic of SARS-COVID-2 or COVID-19. Despite the ornate, diplomatic, and seemingly stable relations between Russia, China, and the US, the reality is inescapable: neither Russia nor China are allies of Washington.
In an interview with Fox News, President Donald Trump again questioned China's management of the virus on May 14, saying: "There are many things we could do. We could cut off the whole relationship [with China]."...
